15 ans du CFC

Compte-rendu de la journée d’étude

Le 15e anniversaire du Centre de recherche franco-chinois en sciences sociales de l’Université Tsinghua a été célébré le 11 novembre 2017 au cours d’une journée de conférence internationale sur le thème des migrations.

L’événement s’est tenu en présence d’une trentaine de participants, universitaires, étudiants et auditeurs libres.

Après les allocutions d’ouverture de madame Stéphanie Balme, Attachée de coopération universitaire auprès de l’Ambassade de France en Chine, monsieur le professeur Shi Zhiqin, chancelier de la faculté de Sciences sociales de Tsinghua et de Chloé Froissart, directrice du Centre franco-chinois. NN1+wd0oSrisUgOQB3SrOg_thumb_11e1 53sm6uZGRX+wtCJVa3Bo2Q_thumb_11cf

La conférence inaugurale fut donnée par Laure Zhang, professeur auprès de l’université de Genève. Cette présentation a mis en avant les apports théoriques français aux sciences sociales et à la pensée critique, de l’école positiviste jusqu’à Pierre Bourdieu.

La matinée fut consacrée à l’action des États à l’égard des migrants et fut marquée par les interventions d’Éric Florence, directeur du Centre d’Études français sur la Chine contemporaine, et de Wang Jianhua, chercheur à l’Académie chinoise des Sciences sociales. Éric Florence s’est focalisé sur la catégorisation dont font l’objet les migrants internes en Chine et les représentations attribuées et subies. Wang Jianhua s’est quant à lui intéressé à la manière dont les autorités chinoises ont fait face aux manifestations de travailleurs migrants dans le Guangdong.…

Critical thinking of the human and social sciences: the French case

The domination of scientism and technological utilitarianism have become the most remarkable features of our time. The deep anxiety that drives debates about humanities and social sciences usefulness haunts investment policy in higher education and research all around the world. The first victims of budget cuts are the social sciences deemed unnecessary, then the social science projects that do not respond to urgent requests and finally basic research which usefulness is not immediately attested. The controversy over the scientific nature of human and social sciences has never stopped. Since the beginning of the 19th century, social sciences have been trying to appear as pure science while seeking to differentiate themselves from traditional human sciences. What makes it possible to overcome this tension and bring together these three human knowledge is the scientific spirit endowed with critical courage and skeptical capacity.…

The purpose of this conference is to think about a comparative analysis of current
migratory processes and patterns of integration in the metropolises of the contemporary world. It brings together researchers from China, Hong Kong and France who have in common to work on this topic from different perspectives on the basis of fieldwork and survey studies on different countries (China, France and South Africa).
