5 – 5:30  pm : Dr Peter Ho, Qianren Professor, Tsinghua University, School of Social Sciences and London School of Economics, The credibility of nature management: A new theory of environmental governance.

5:30 – 6 pm : General Discussion

In China, many actors from the civil society, such as associations or environmental non-governmental organizations, participate in awareness-raising campaigns, in the law-making process or direct actions to protect and preserve environment. These actors have to comply with an constant evolving legal environment and deal with other actors in environmental governance. This seminar will aim to show the place occupied by these actors in the environmental governance in China, the strategies and the repertoire of contention that they deploy in order achieve their goals.

The seminar will be held in English.
